Changing tires as anything else shouldn't that complicated. But, since automobile tires are getting fancier and more complicated, tire changers were upgraded to tag along with the flow. Modernized tire changing machines have different components that perform particular tasks. So before you use the tire changer make sure that you familiarize yourself with the components and tools as well as with its use.

Foot Pedals
Tire changing machines are not created equal; some have two foot pedals, others have three. Although these foot pedals (whether 2 or 3) are located in the front, bottom part of the machine. Foot pedals are the trickiest part of the tire changer because different pedals have different purposes. So if you are not familiar with these make sure that you try out every pedal before putting in the tires.

Mount/Demount Mechanism
This part is composed of different elements; the duckhead, vertical slide and swing arm. The mount/demount mechanism helps in mounting or demounting the tires from the wheel; thus its name. This is uniquely shape to fit any tire and rim sizes. It is made out of either metal or high quality plastics.

Turn Table and Rim Clamps
These parts are located on the top of the changing machine. The rim clamp holds the tire and secures it in place to avoid tire from slipping. The turn table on the other hand has a unique “X” shape and is able to turn clockwise and/or counter clockwise for easy and speed demounting.

Bead Breaker
This part helps in loosening the tire beads from the rim of the wheel. It uses hydraulic pressure to break the tire beads and separate it from the wheel. The bead breaker can be activated using one of the foot pedals.

Inflator/Air Pressure
Once you have successfully replaced your flat or old tires, the next step would be inflating the tire while mounted on the wheel. To do this, you can use the inflator or the air pressure system of your tire changing machine. The air pressure system has three components; hose, inflation gauge and manual pressure bleed valve. Again, this can be activated using one of the tire changer’s foot pedals.

Now that you are already familiar with the tire changing machines (its parts and purposes); the next step would be finding out what is the best tire changing machine in the market.
